Scoil Cois Claídhe
Bhí float ag Cumann na Gaeilge i Mór-shiúl na Féile Pádraig i nAbington, Mass. ar an 12ú Márta, ’06.

Cumann na Gaeilge had a float in Abington’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 12th, ’06. It depicted “Scoil Cois Claídhe” or Hedge School. In the 1700’s and early 1800’s, the British forbade the Irish to have an education, so secret schools sprang up in numerous areas. Here the children would be hidden by hedges. The Gaelic name for these schools was “Scoil Cois Claídhe.”
The float received a lot of attention, and the Cumann won a plaque for the authenticity of the float.
